Beer is a village in East Devon, just across the border from Dorset. Towns nearby include Honiton, Axminster, Ottery St Mary, Seaton and Colyton, with other villages nearby including Branscombe, Southleigh, Colyford, Kilmington, Musbury and Axmouth. Beer is on the edge of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Being surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK, as well as being an active, working fishing village that itself has been voted "Best in Britain", makes Beer a lovely place to live.
This also means that there is a higher-than-usual percentage of residents who are retired or approaching retirement. Though there is a considerable focus locally on looking after visitors to the area, it's important for an area like ours to pay attention as well to the people who live here all year round.
As a new organisation created in March 2019, Beer Men's Shed has already got a new and fully-equipped physical shed of its own, located on Church Hill in the centre of Beer village in the grounds of Mariners' Hall (postcode EX12 3JH). You can find it on Google Maps by clicking here.
